Huawei has announced its latest MateBook X 2020 for the UAE refreshing its high-end series of laptops. It takes its place below the MateBook X Pro (2020). The new laptop comes with a 3K display, a compact fan-less design, and a pressure-sensitive trackpad.
On the design front, the Huawei MateBook X 2020 is easily one of the slimmest and lightweight machines available to users. It weighs as little as 1kg and its overall thickness is just 13.6mm. Despite such a thin profile, Huawei has fitted the laptop with a 13.0-inch bezel-less display. The overall build is metal, as you might have presumed.
The MateBook X display has an aspect ratio of 3:2 and a screen-to-body ratio of 90% similar to the MateBook X Pro. It has a pixel density of 278 PPI and supports touch interactions. Huawei claims a 100% sRGB colour gamut coverage with a promised maximum brightness of 400 nits.

The MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020)’s entry-level model may miss out on some of the lineup’s new toys. However, going for the higher-end configurations will get you new (and powerful) Intel processors and improved RAM speeds for better performance, all packed in the 13-inch incredibly svelte body. Apple rounds it all out with that incredible Magic Keyboard from the new 16-inch, finally getting rid of that problematic keyboard and making this one of the most comfortable laptops to do video editing on. Even if you don’t go for the 10th-generation Intel Core configurations, you might still appreciate the fact that all models come with more storage capacity for the same price as their predecessors.
Lenovo’s ThinkPad P70 was one of the first notebooks featuring Intel's Skylake processor, which should give it a boost in performance compared to Broadwell or Haswell chips. Equipped with ample storage and plenty of RAM, an excellent keyboard and a wide selection of ports for connectivity, Lenovo is positioning the ThinkPad P70 as the ultimate workstation that you can take on the go without missing your desktop. Also worth mentioning is the X-Rite Pantone calibration tool, available as an option, which is great to keep your screen accurate for production work, as well as the Quadro GPU that comes with all the P70 SKUs.
OK, so the MSI GS65 Stealth is primarily a high-end gaming laptop - with a price tag to match - but it also doubles as an absolutely brilliant laptop. This is because it comes with an excellent array of cutting edge components, which includes an 8th-generation Intel Core i7-8750H CPU and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 GPU. This means multi tasking and editing is handled with aplomb - and if you also want to do a bit of gaming on the side, then it's a no-brainer.
We reached out to Michel Yavercovski, Senior Director of Product Management for Corel video products, to get his expert opinions about choosing a creative computer.
"There are a few key things to look for when buying a video editing laptop and of course, when you’re talking about video, the better the hardware, the smoother and more responsive your editing experience will be. Whether you’re talking about our Pinnacle Studio or VideoStudio products, both have been designed to take full benefit of your hardware to make video editing as fast and efficient as possible." Michel said.
"First, you’ll want to look for a system with a powerful multicore processor -- the Intel Core i7 product line is a good choice to get started with -- and our software has been optimized to take advantage of multithreading so you can get the most out of these impressive chips. A powerful processor will also give you a seamless experience when working with today’s popular formats and creative features like multi-camera and 360° video support. 4K video can create huge file sizes, so you’ll also want to make sure the device has a large and fast SSD storage drive that can read and write large video files without any hang-ups."
"Video editing takes up a lot of memory, so shop for a system that has between 16GB and 32GB of RAM to keep things running smoothly. And, of course, a 64-bit version of Windows 10 is a must. " he added.
"Then, when considering graphics cards, look for the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX or GTX series as well as Intel Iris or HD Graphics for overall faster processing and editing. Most advanced graphics cards will also have HEVC support, enabling the use of this advanced video format in your productions."
"Since you’ll be working primarily on one screen when you’re on the go, make sure the laptop's built-in monitor produces crisp images and has accurate color rendering. It’s also ideal to have a system that will support multiple screens for when you’re back in your main work space. Lastly, I always advise users to either plug in their laptops or adjust the power settings for high performance since many notebooks default to power-saving features when they’re running on battery which can impact performance. You may have to accept a shorter battery life, but it will ensure faster processing for a great editing experience."

As reported earlier the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 has finally been made available in India. The new tablet boasting a 10.4 -inches with WUXGA+ resolution comes with a quad-speaker setup making it a perfect device for multimedia consumption.
The latest entrant to the Galaxy A series in India is available in two different variants - LTE and WiFi-only models.

The price of Galaxy Tab A7 has been set at Rs. 17,999 for the WiFi-only model and Rs. 21,999 for the LTE variant. The tablet can be pre-booked on Samsung’s online portal and leading e-commerce websites starting today. It is available in three colour options- Dark Gray, Silver and Gold.
As an introductory offer, Samsung is offering a keyboard cover at a discounted price of Rs. 1875 while ICICI debit and credit card customers will be entitled to get an additional Rs. 2,000 off if the tablet is purchased through their respective ICICI bank cards.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is powered by a Snapdragon 662 chipset coupled with 3GB of RAM. For storage the tablet comes with 32GB of inbuilt storage with an option to expand the storage upto 1TB via micro SD card.
It comes with an 8-megapixel rear facing camera while a 5-megapixel snapper is there to help you with selfies and video calls.
The Galaxy Tab A7 has been designed for media consumption as it comes with a quad-speaker setup complemented with Dolby Atmos surround sound. Furthermore it comes with deeper integration with OTT content streaming platforms like Netflix and music streaming service Sotify. Samsung is also bundling a free subscription for YouTube premium for a couple of months with an aim to make it your primary portable media consumption device.
You can also take calls and send text messages right from the tablet without pulling out your smartphone in case you are signed in with the same Samsung account on both the devices. Auto HotSpot and Quick Share are other interesting features that help users to share content or the internet from the tablet without much effort. Regular connectivity options include USB Type-C, Wi-Fi, and GPS.
We've seen Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 deals dropping at Amazon over the past few months, with prices slowly getting lower and lower with each new sale. It seems we've hit the lowest point we'll see in a while, however. While these latest Samsung Galaxy tablet deals don't offer a new cheapest price, they're only $2 off the record set earlier in September.
That's good news for deal hunters, because while you could have picked it up a little cheaper earlier this month, it does suggest that we've hit a plateau - easing fears of missing out on more savings in the near future. As a result of the worldwide pandemic, the largest global AIDS NPO, the International AIDS Society (IAS), was forced to turn their July 2020 23rd international AIDS conference for 20 000 participants from a physical to a virtual event.
A core tenant of the IAS is accessibility and the challenge they faced was how to close the global digital divide and provide online access to the virtual conference to their group of almost 1 000 scholarship and educational fund recipients.
They asked Aylett to create a solution to provide unlimited global data Flexiroam SIM cards and smartphone devices to be shipped worldwide to over 900 delegates to connect them to AIDS2020:Virtual.
“When our team first approached Jackie about finding a solution to connect low-income delegates from around the world for our upcoming conference, she was immediately enthused with the project. Given this was way beyond our technical expertise, it was up to Jackie to envision how this accessibility project came to fruition," Emily Blitz, Director, Conferences at the IAS said.
In spite of the global crisis, Aylett was able to pivot her business from providing data roaming for international travellers to providing virtual global data to connect people to a virtual conference.
Once international travel starts up again, the original business model will spring back into life but now there is an equally attractive new solution aimed at providing online access to virtual events.
Her message to female entrepreneurs in technology is to look out for disruptive solutions that have the power to improve lives by solving big pain points.
